Information Literacy

Information Literacy is an essential skill for 21st century learners. This literacy encompasses the ability to critically evaluate essential and non-essential information. Students are flooded with information from digital media. All of this information is not valid and verifiable. Here is where the component of literacy is necessary.

Information literacy forms the foundation for all of the other literacies. Students need to know how to state their information need, search for it effectively, evaluate what they find for validity, and utilize the information they find.

There are many information literacy models available and many include a component of the best ways to conduct research on the Web. Let’s look at one of these processes.

In order to begin their research, students need be able to ask the right question. Of course, the overall context of the research will be determined by the unit being studied in class, but there are some standard information literacy steps students can use to develop the query they will research in order to gather their information.
Viewing the graphic above, which of these components of conducting research do you feel are most important? Which one do you least understand? And why do you feel the chosen components of conducting research are (A) most important and (B) least understood?

When I look at that graph I feel like that wen you cite your sources because one you don't wont to get plagiarism two it is good to give credit for who ever came up with your info. I least understand the gather your assets because I never really used it or practice using it. the chosen components are very important in making a good research because with these steps your questions and work will be perfect.

Looking at the graph what I feel is most important is after you gather the information evaluate it and the citing of resources. I feel like this is important because after you gather your information you want to make sure it's right so you can get a good grade and understand the information in depth , you don't' want to just put something down on paper and say " here I did it" without no care in the world. Citing resources is very important because if you don't that considered to be plagiarism and you basically get no credit because you claimed the information as your own. What I can say I least understand is re-work the question because I don't know if that means making a whole new question out of it or just looking into it to make sure you will get accurate information. This components of research are important to make sure you are going on the right track getting everything you need for possibly a research paper and if you follow these steps every time you will get a better paper because you planned and won't have to worry about thinking about a process every time it is laid out for you. This process may be least understood because people are trying to get stuff out the way fast.

All of the components of conducting research are important. The components that I feel are most important are listing key words , conducting research, citing sources , evaluating info and gathering your assets.

The Re-working component of conducting research is questioning. How could you re-work your question. Does that mean solving it , or getting into greater detail?

All of the components I chose as important are significant to researching material. The component that’s least understood is misunderstood because we all expect to have our questions answered right then and there instead of doing what is necessary.

The component that I find the most important is cite source. The reason why is because without the source of your information then your research paper is not really valid. It's not valid because there isn't any recorded evidence that the information in your paper is true. The component that is least understood is listing key words , because it's not really essential to the paper.

The components of conducting research is important to me because citing your sources is a good way for the reader to see where you got this information from. Also doing research because you'll never learn nothing if you don't do your research.

Re-working the question is a little confusing to me because I don't know how your Re-work a question.

the components I chose are important because it will give a good paper to turn in every time if you just follow the steps.

The most important component of conducting research is citing sources. It is the most important to me because you have to tell where you have gotten all of your information. The one that I least understand is re-work question. what do I have to do when I re-work my question? The components of research are important because so you can know what is required of you. components of research are least understood because so people might not know how to apply them.

The most important component is citing your sources. This is the most important because for most classes if you don’t have this your paper will not count. This lets the teacher know where you got work information from and assure the teacher that you didn’t cheat. The information I feel is the least understood is re-working your question. I don’t understand what this means and I have never used it in any of my papers. Once you figure out your question you do not need to go back and make changes on it.

The most important component of conducting research is citing sources. The reason being is because if you don't cite your resources all your work can be claimed as stealing. You also wont get your full grade. It is also the least understood because some people don't understand the importance of citing your work.
